Dallas Weekend

This past weekend we went to Mesquite to visit Chad's sister, Clarice, and her husband, John, and two kids, JT and Hannah. Chad met us in Mesquite from Altus. We had a lot of fun.

Friday, we went to a smaller waterpark, which reminded me a lot of Splashtown in San Antonio. It was nice because it wasn't very crowded. We rode on a few of the bodyslides, tuberides, and relaxed on their lazy river. That night John grilled tons of MEAT! We were definitely not going hungry that night.

Then on Saturday we decided to brave the heat and crowds and go to Six Flags Over Texas in Dallas. We rode all of the roller coasters, which are the best!, and rode a few of the other rides. By around 7 we were already tired and ready to go back to take a shower.

Father's Day, Sunday, we hung out with the Waters for a while before I left with Chad on our wonderful drive to Altus. We stopped at the Galleria for a little shopping before we hit the road. It was good to go to a real mall after so much time in Del Rio without any shopping! We made it to Altus Sunday evening. Chad drove me around the base and town which didn't take long, but I can already tell that it is better then Del Rio! They have a Braum's, which is like a Freddy's--not too bad, and a Starbucks! After stopping at Braum's for some well deserved ice cream, Chad drove me around the town to show me the aftermath of the tornado a few weeks before. There were powerlines down, signs torn up, roofs off the tops of buildings, and even some completely demolished buildings.

Overall, my visit to Altus hasn't been too bad. Chad had off yesterday so we went to the pool and then went to a really good steak restaurant in a nearby town. We experienced some crazy thunderstorm on our drive there. The thunderstorms here come up out of nowhere. Earlier in the day we were just relaxing in the sun at the pool and the next we were standing in crazy winds that brought lots of lightning and thunder. This weekend we are going to Oklahoma City where I will fly out to meet my mom and go to South Padre Island.
